Eagles Fly Through Giants, 34-13
Eli Manning threw an interception on his second pass of the game that led to an Eagles touchdown, and Philadelphia never looked back. The Eagles (3-3) are now back atop the NFC East while the Giants (1-5) find themselves in a burning building. Tons of storylines. Here are the ones you need to know…
The Eagles offense was tossing the ball around the yard and finally reminded us of last season’s Super Bowl team. Players with names ending in “tz” had a good night. Quarterback Carson Wentz tossed three touchdowns, one to Zach Ertz and two to Alshon Jeffrey. The Eagles led 24-6 at the half and didn’t have a turnover in the game.
Mend It Like Beckham
Odell Beckham Jr. had just six catches for 44 yards and some sideline temper tantrums. He tried to make amends this week following his interview with Josina Anderson (and Lil’ Wayne, for some reason?) where he criticized the team’s effort. The Giants definitely took a step back in the camaraderie column. Beckham went into the locker room at halftime before the clock read zeros.
Saquon Is Special
The lone bright spot for the Giants on Thursday was another ridiculous performance from running back Saquon Barkley. The rookie (of the year) had 130 yards rushing and a touchdown on just 13 carries. He also caught nine passes for 99 yards. Roughly half of his 22 touches were highlight worthy.
Third Down Thursday
We like charts. They tell stories, too. Here’s one that sums up Thursday night pretty well.
Philly will host the Panthers (3-1) next Sunday. New York travels to Atlanta (1-4) a week from Monday.
