Kenley Jansen Needs Heart Surgery, Still Pitching
The Los Angeles Dodgers' closer Kenley Jansen needs heart surgery. Again. The 30-year old Dutchman suffered an atrial fibrillation in 2011 and 2012. His heart starts racing at an alarming rate. He can't catch his breath when it happens, and it's all due to an underlying electrical issue in the man's ticker.
After having surgery following the 2012 season and returning to the mound, Jansen suffered another incident on August 9 in Colorado (due to the altitude). Doctors have confirmed Jansen needs another heart surgery following this season, but that's not stopping him from throwing heaters to help L.A. with another playoff push.
Jansen has appeared in eight games since the August episode. The Dodgers have won three of his last four. He's given up just three hits and zero runs in those last four appearances.
Overhand motion. Underdog story. Keep the flamethrower warm, big guy.
