Central Florida Cracks College Football's Top 10

The UCF Golden Knights have felt disrespected, to say the least. You might recall their self-proclaimed national championship in last year’s undefeated campaign after the College Football Playoff Committee omitted them from the playoffs. And now, they just keep winning.

The Knights are off to a 5-0 start in 2018 and have extended their nation-leading win streak to 18. They’re embarrassing teams in the American Athletic Conference so far this season, winning games by an average 31+ points.

After crushing SMU on Saturday, UCF climbed into the Top 10 in the polls. The College Football Playoff committee said in September that there was a path for UCF to make the playoff. They’ll play two ranked conference opponents in South Florida and Cincinnati later this season. Beat both and tag a second-straight undefeated season and we could see the first true underdog in the College Football Playoff.

We’re not sure they’d stand a chance against powerhouses like Alabama, Ohio State or Georgia, but college football could use a good underdog story. We’re pulling for the Knights.
