Baker Mayfield: Walk-On, Heisman, Cleveland Hero
There's still a lot of football to be played before Baker Mayfield really achieves anything in Cleveland, but after last night's victory, let's take a second to remember where he came from.
Mayfield was only a three star quarterback coming out of high school. He walked on at Texas Tech and played five games before getting injured. He then transferred to Oklahoma and played another three seasons before finishing third in the Heisman race to Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson. End of his college career, right?
Big 12 officials voted on a transfer rule for walk-ons in terms of eligibility, and the world was gifted with another year of Baker in 2017. Heisman winner, No. 1 overall pick, and now the future of the Cleveland Browns.
