One-Handed Rookie Shaquem Griffin to Start Sunday
The first underdog... and a stud. Shaquem Griffin had his left hand amputated at age 4 due to a birth defect. He's played football his whole life. He's been doubted his whole life.
Griffin was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school. He became an All-American at UCF. He wasn't originally invited to the NFL combine. Once he was, he showed up and ran a 4.38 40-yard dash and benched 225 pounds 20 times. He was then drafted by Seattle with the 141st pick in the 5th round of April's NFL Draft. Yesterday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that Griffin would get the start on Sunday against the Broncos in place of injured linebacker K.J. Wright.
We'll all be Griffin fans on Sunday. The Seahawks and Broncos play the 4:25 pm ET slot.
Doesn't matter if they doubt you. Celebrate the underdog.
