Runner With Cerebral Palsy Inks Nike Contract
A story you may have heard over the weekend, but one too good to not tell.
Justin Gallegos has cerebral palsy. He began running in middle school and his passion gave him the opportunity to compete with the University of Oregon’s running club where he now attends college.
At the conclusion of a race late last week, Justin was surprised by Nike executive John Douglass at the finish line who announced that he would be the first athlete with cerebral palsy to ink an official Nike contract.
As expected, the 20-year-old college student was brought to tears.
Saturday was National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day and Justin turned to social media.
“Today I made Nike history and became the very first athlete with Cerebral Palsy to sign a contract with Nike! You don’t realize how realistic and emotional your dreams are until they play out before your very eyes!”
Well put, Justin. Keep running, Underdog.
